5 Thriller Webtoons that Will Send Shivers Down Your Spine! [5 Freaky Faves]
It’s the month of October and you know what that means… 5 Freaky Faves is back! In case you’re new around here or don’t remember 5 Freaky Faves from previous Octobers, 5 Freaky Faves is a spooky take on 5 Fandom Friday, which has been retired for the most part by the original creators, but I still love making these lists so I am carrying on the spirit with my own version of 5FF. We’re kicking off this week of October with five thriller Webtoons that are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine…
Not Even Bones
This one of the few Webtoons that I’ve seen based off of a novel or book series, and it’s obvious that Not Even Bones was meant to have a comic adaptation once you dive into Nita’s life. Nita medically dissects magical, mythical, and legendary beings that her mother captures. You see, these supernatural body parts cost big money on the black market… Unfortunately, Nita gets too close to the fire and is captured herself to be sold on this supernatural black market all because Nita has a special power; she can heal herself. No one but her mother knows about this power… so how did her captors find out? And how will Nita escape from her new prison filled with supernaturals who would do anything to get out as well?

My Deepest Secret
My Deepest Secret is full of twists and turns making it at the top of this thriller Webtoon list for good reason. Emma has the best boyfriend ever. Elios is kind, sweet, and puts Emma above everything. However, something isn’t quite right with Elios… His devotion to Emma borders on obsession and leaves a trail of blood in his wake. With a series of horrifying events including assault and death surrounding her, Emma must confront her troubled past after Yohan, an amateur detective, begins to dig into Emma’s secrets, secrets that Emma wanted to keep buried.

Tales of Greed
I love a good anthology, and Tales of Greed definitely makes it in my top five! A short series of episodes contains individual stories that range widely with leading characters and backstories that dive into consequences of someone’s actions… whether it’s good or bad. What do all these stories have in common? Desire and greed… Everyone has something that they would do anything for: love, beauty, wealth, power, or maybe something else. However, everything comes with a price. Will the price of our leads’ greatest desire be worth it? Or will their greed become too much and the price become too great for them to handle?

Shotgun Boy
If you are a fan of Sweet Home but felt that the series was a bit slow… Shotgun Boy is everything you wish Sweet Home could have been. I love Sweet Home, but this prequel is action packed with new characters and new foes. Our main character Gyuhwan has hit his breaking point. After years of being bullied, Gyuhwan gets his chance for revenge on his classmates when he finds a shotgun in the woods with just enough bullets for each of them. On his way to get revenge, his fate is turned upside down when he finds his classmates and teachers being attacked by terrifying creatures that eat the brains of their prey and then can become their prey! Gyuhwan’s shotgun ends up being the only thing that can keep the monsters at bay. At least for now… Meanwhile, something else is making it’s way through the woods, something even the brain-eating monsters are scared of.

It’s Mine
It’s Mine gives readers an intense perspective of Yohan’s stalking and protection of his crush and classmate Dajeong. Yohan even goes as far as to enroll in her school to keep an even closer eye on her. But there is something off with Yohan, more than just his stalking of Dajeong. He’s a social outcast, finds it almost impossible to hold a normal conversation, and is seemingly all alone. He doesn’t seem to have many early memories of his life before he began watching and protecting Dajeong. As Yohan tries to figure out how to become a figure in Dajeong’s life, his past beings to slowly be revealed, and you won’t guess the twists within this one.

Follow A Geeky Gal!

Hey Meg, what a fun list of recs! I don’t often read many webtoons in the spooky/thriller category, but its clear there’s lots of variety to the stories that people can discover. 😌✨
Thank you! My webtoon tastes are all over the place so I try to do recs when I can, and I even started a couple of new spooky ones during Halloween this weekend! I’ll have to do another list next year. 🙂
